THE QUEST |
The Quest is a story about adventure. After receiving a mysterious call during lockdown, a librarian and her housemates set out on a quest to discover the meaning of adventure. Ever wanted to go to the moon, become a spy or an inventor? Then join the screen-free fun. Using everyday props, this imaginative audio play offers you a chance to join in with activities to become part of the story. |
Each 10 minute episode looks at the life of a real character and their adventure.
It's a great way to immerse yourself in someone else's story.

“My 5 year old daughter and I loved listening to the Quest. We loved the idea of being taken on a journey out of our kitchen with some great surprises along the way. In particular my daughter loves the water and glass science activity and her eyes literally popped when she did it all by herself. She was so engrossed in the story she got up and started moonwalking! Another lovely idea from What’s Coming Out Of The Box! We have spent a lot of time staring at screens so it was such a welcome release to just delve into our imaginations through audio. It prompted us to go and find out more about Don Quixote afterwards.” Gillian Farrell, mum to Meave, age 5 |

What's Coming Out of the Box
Based in East Kent, we are a female-led performance and art company. We serve food for thought dished up as immersive experiences, creating work that relate to audiences in unusual ways. Our innovative performances always have a strong audience participation element and explore participation possibilities, site specific and outdoor situations.
Our long-term vision is to contribute to making the world a better place through the Arts: to create a more tolerant, supportive and happy society.
Although we operated informally in the past, What’s Coming out of the Box was officially born in 2018, starting with ‘Inside’. We have developed a uniquely fluid immersive style and strong DIY aesthetic working with wonderful mentors such as Tim Webb (Oily Cart) and Colette Garrigan (Akselere). We tend to be as self-contained as possible, to tour outside conventional spaces and reach everyone.
We are associate artists at Looping the Loop and our work has been supported by Arts Council England, the Kent Community Foundation, Kent County Council, Canterbury City Council and the Gibbons Family Trust.
