our Arts Council funded project - "On Your Doorstep - Margate".
This exciting collective is led by professional artists Carli Jefferson, Jodie Cole, and Anna Symes who are all based in Cliftonville, Margate.
OYD is a new programme, launched by Looping the Loop during lockdown and is rooted in community.
There are sister projects in Ramsgate and Broadstairs.

Carli Jefferson Carli Jefferson is a trans-disciplinary visual and movement artist, whose work explores the realms of percussion, choreography, film, clown, voice, costume, installation, shamanism and creative mentoring. The heart of Carli’s work is rhythmic, blossoming from her touring career with hit West End production, ‘Stomp'. She has a passion for body percussion, and projects that help people to ‘feel something.’ Carli lived and worked for many years in Czech Republic and has performed and recorded with many bands including well known Broken Folk duo Lunatraktors of which she is co-founder. |
Anna Symes Anna Symes is a professional artist and performer who lives in Cliftonville and makes dance, theatre, and dance for film. Anna is also Artistic Director of Margate-based company, ‘Round in Circles’, and has worked on various Cliftonville-based projects including Bridges y Puentes, Happy Feet and iMambo Margate. Pre Covid-19, Anna ran social dance events in London and Margate which were a meeting point for Ballroom, Latin, Swing and Argentine Tango styles. |
Jodie Cole Jodie Cole is an inclusive dance theatre maker who creates joyful spaces for everyone to be part of. Jodie is a master at loosening people’s inhibitions and loves bringing performance to unexpected places. She is the Jerwood Creative Fellow with the UK's leading integrated circus company, ‘Extraordinary Bodies’, and is the founder of Margate Contemporary Dance. Jodie is especially interested in the raucous joy of movement, the potential for full-bodied expression, and inclusive practice. |
