We have spent three weeks talking to as many people as possible (our aim is 1000) across Thanet. We've talked about change, community and what it's like living on the Isle. We have hundreds of hours of people's voices! What now? What do we do with all these words, thoughts and ideas? We make a play! A play about our community - about the people we live with and amongst; their worries, fears and hopes, their attitudes, opinions and reactions to the changes that are happening around, and to, them.
The workshop will explore and experiment with the techniques and strategies we're using to research and create a piece of verbatim/from-real-life-testimony theatre. How do we find the people? How do we conduct our interviews? How do we curate the words of the public in an honourable and honest way to make a piece of theatre that is truthful, insightful, provocative and, ultimately, uplifting?
