REVEALING THE MAGIC - MASTERCLASS
with Tom Penn
Tom will reveal how he works with the technology used in Neverland; projection, light and colour, and the considerations in making a show for this particular age group. We have asked him to reveal the magic behind putting on a show like Neverland, inspired by Peter Pan.
A Note from Tom...
When it came to making Neverland, it was abundantly clear that I didn't yet have the tools needed to make the show. What followed was a two year process of learning new skills alongside brilliant people, that allowed the realisation of an extremely ambitious idea. This is a chance to talk about how we might improve the quality of our theatre by working outside of our comfort zones.
Here's a link to a short clip about the show from Tom: https://youtu.be/x1hDl6Go7M0
Tom is a director, writer, actor and musician based in the South East. He is a member of award-winning Little Bulb Theatre with whom he made and performed in a production of 'Orpheus' which had critically acclaimed runs at Battersea Arts Centre in both 2013 and 2014, before moving to the Salzburger Festspiele in Austria, and then a UK tour in 2015.
As well as creating his own work, Tom has collaborated and performed with a large variety of theatre makers, including RashDash (Snow White and Rose Red and The Ugly Sisters UK Tour); SlungLow (The Fairy Portal with The RSC); The Paper Cinema (The Keys of Tobias Brown); Dancing Brick (Thumbelina's Great Big Adventure); Deafinitely Theatre (Love's Labours Lost at The Globe); Dom Coyote (Songs For The End of The World); Extraordinary Bodies (Weighting) and Seiriol Davies (How To Win Against History).
