PLAYWRITING - IDEAS & STRUCTURE
with Hanna Slättne
This workshop will look at how you find the right structure for your piece, whether you are a playwright, theatre maker or are trying to capture something that happened to you. We will explore different approaches to finding the unique and theatrical in your ideas and help you get ready for the next draft. It's a practical workshop about dramaturgy and how you make it work for you. Please come prepared to talk about your project with the other participants and to support others in their process.
Hanna is the dramaturg for Shannon Yee's 'Reassembled, Slightly Askew', showing 27 - 29 April. She is one of the UK and Ireland’s most experienced dramaturgs and theatre-makers, specialising in new work, new writing and cross artform collaboration. Hanna has extensive experience in mentoring and facilitating artists in their development processes.
This workshop is aimed at professional/amateur writers as well as students and performance makers.

With a regular output of new writing for large and small stages, programming and delivering festivals and through mentoring generations of upcoming artists the dramaturgical ripples of her expertise extends far and wide. Hanna has just won the Kenneth Tynan Award for Dramaturgy. Projects she has worked on have won numerous awards, including the Meyer Whitworth Award, Wyndham Campbell Prize, Stewart Parker Awards and The Irish Times Theatre Awards.
